In just 61 days, Capitol Hill Housing’s Run for Homes team will lace up and hit the road, running in the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon & 1/2 Marathon event June 23rd. This year’s team, led by experienced coach Allan Skytta, is comprised of both running veterans, like Deirdre Doyle, and those new to the sport. For Ashley Palar, Amanda Alvarez, and Leigh Ann Smith, this will be their first 1/2 marathon.

If you are interested, there is still time to join the team. Participants receive perks such as weekly training runs, a free technical shirt, and the camaraderie of a community of walkers and runners helping to make a difference in their community! Weekly training runs take place on Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm. Runners meet at the Capitol Hill Housing offices located at 1406 10th Avenue East.

If running 13.1 miles doesn’t sound like your cup of tea but you want to help – consider sponsoring a runner. This year’s team is aiming to raise $5,000 to support CHH’s work providing homes for low-income residents throughout the Seattle area.
