An LGBTQ affirming senior affordable housing project in Seattle

  • Please join Capitol Hill Housing and their architect, Environmental Works, to discuss the vision behind the new building we are planning at the corner of Union St and 14th Ave in Capitol Hill. This proposed building will be approximately seven stories and will include space for LGBTQ focused health and services providers, and resident community rooms on the ground floor, along with affordable apartments on the upper levels.

  • Provide needed housing: the number of LGBTQ seniors in the Seattle area is expected to double by 2030.
  • A hub for LGBTQ seniors served by a non-profit partner committed to advancing community and securing the health and well-being of our LGBTQ seniors
  • A safe and welcoming environment that celebrates diversity in all its forms
  • History: LGBTQ seniors in Seattle have waited long-enough for housing affirming of their cultural and community identity

The new location: 1319 E Union St, Seattle, WA 98122

  • Located close but not within the bustling Pike and Pine corridor, the heart of the city’s LGBTQ community
  • 1319 E Union St will provide access to all of the cultural, health and well-being amenities within Capitol Hill
  • Located next to a wide array of public transportation options: next to the planned protected bicycle lanes on Union St, two blocks away from the anticipated Madison St Bud Rapid Transit Line, blocks away from the #2, #9, #43, #49, and #60 bus lines and less than a mile from the Capitol Hill light rail station.

Building Project partner

Capitol Hill Housing has served Seattleā€™s low- and moderate-income residents since 1976. In doing so, we have created and preserved affordable homes, protected community space, stabilized arts and cultural institutions, and generated opportunities for small businesses to prosper. Our work is long and hard. But we have not done it alone. Our work has required cultivating strong partnerships with other organizations, with the communities in which we work, and with our residents.
